La Fabrica de Sueños Mission and Sienna

Our mission is to bridge the gap between education and employment by providing comprehensive training programs for young adults in various facets of the tourism sector.

Beneficiaries

Our goal is to contribute to the socio-professional integration of young adults aged 18 to 22 who have dropped out of school in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic.

Project Description

Through comprehensive training, experiential learning, and sustainable practices, we nurture a new generation of skilled professionals who contribute to the growth of the local economy while fostering a commitment to excellence, community, and environmental stewardship.

La Fabrica de Sueños is nestled within the vibrant Sienna real estate development in the hills of Las Terrenas, within the El Jamito neighborhood.

Our project is designed as a multifaceted hub, offering a range of training facilities tailored to different vocations in the local tourism industry.

We want to unify the community in its diversity.

Gather and connect the actors and initiatives in favor of the well-being and improvement of Las Terrenas and its population through this platform.

By creating a place of autonomous learning, experimentation, knowledge exchange and professional and personal development.

With an innovative approach to skill development, our foundation boasts the following key components:

  • Co-creating Workshop: Our workshop serves as a learning space where visitors can engage in hands-on workshops related to woodworking, metalworking as well as other craft skills. It's a place for creativity and skill development. The creative space will allow trainees acquire skills in crafting small furniture pieces for home interiors and gifts that cater to tourists' preferences, enhancing their engagement with local craftsmanship and its preservation.

  • Traditional & Organic Kitchen: Our traditional kitchen is designed for cooking, tasting, and learning about Dominican cuisine using local recipes and organic ingredients. It provides a platform for culinary experiences, cooking classes, and the preservation of cultural food traditions. It will serve as a practical learning ground for aspiring waiters and cooks.

  • Eco-Park: Our eco-park is an outdoor area designed to educate visitors about local crops and sustainable agriculture technique. It includes demonstration gardens, permaculture setups, and interactive exhibits that showcase eco-friendly farming practices. This small garden will provide trainees with insights into organic cultivation and other sustainable practices.

  • Eco-Lodge: The eco-lodge is a lodging facility that offers guests the opportunity to stay overnight and immerse themselves in the local & sustainable living experience. It incorporates unique eco-friendly design and practices. The lodge will offer hands-on training for future receptionists and cleaning staff, ensuring they are well-prepared for the demands of the hospitality sector.

  • Organic Food & Artesanal Shop: Our shop provides visitors and locals with a chance to purchase organic foods from our gardens, locally produced crafts made in the co-creating workshop. It supports the foundation and its trainees.

  • Learning Center: Our Learning Center complements the existing elements by providing a dedicated space for workshops, seminars, and educational activities. Trainees will be able to follow courses and get certified in transversal skills, english, computer literacy among others. It will serve as a hub for learning, personal development, and skill-building.

By offering diverse educational opportunities, we strive to empower young people with the tools they need for a sustainable and fulfilling future. We aspire to enrich the local tourism ecosystem and contribute to the flourishing of Las Terrenas.

The Program

To provide courses and educational resources to a group of trainees, enabling them to pursue a motivating career path and integrate into the local professional community, we will offer the following:

  • Computer Literacy Training: Computer stations with internet access where trainees can learn essential digital skills. This is valuable for enhancing employability and adapting to the digital world.

  • English Language Classes: Offer English language classes to help trainees improve their language skills. English proficiency can open up additional educational and career opportunities.
